Winter Fairy-tale

You want to get married in winter but can’t be sure the weather will let you organise a ceremony you’ve been dreaming about? You shouldn’t worry about that at all! Even though the most of ceremonies, as a rule, take place in summer or in spring, the charming nature of a winter wedding shouldn’t be underestimated.

A wedding dress

A cold time of the year is not a reason to give up cut-away back or shoulders dresses as well as light lace fabrics. If the main part of a celebration takes place indoors, such a dress will be more than appropriate. As for a photo shoot outdoors, it is enough to put on a bolero or a short white fur coat. You can also complement your image with long gloves that will not only warm you, but also emphasise your elegance. And don’t forget an umbrella – it will protect your hairdo from a possible snowfall!

If a part of your ceremony is going to be open air, it’s better to choose a dress with long sleeves. More and more designers create wedding dresses that are suitable for cold seasons but remain gorgeous. Finding suitable shoes won’t be difficult either – for example, it's worth paying attention to elegant ankle boots decorated with lace or pearls, which are also offered by bridal fashion brands.

Location

If you are dreaming about photos with snow, it’s better to go to mountains where snow is guaranteed unlike the flat terrain that can greet you with the dry weather. Bolzano, Merano, Trento or the Swiss St. Moritz will be the perfect decorations for your celebration. For those who admire sophisticated interiors and services of high level, ancient palaces where local titled families once lived or luxury Spa hotels with stunning views of the surroundings are best suited. If you prefer a more chamber wedding with a small number of guests, you can choose one of the small cosy restaurants with a garden.

In the winter time, a ceremony on the lake shore or in the historical city centre is also a great option. If a ceremony takes place shortly before Christmas holidays, beautifully decorated squares and streets will make your wedding even more charming and fabulous.

Decoration

To make a ceremony be in harmony with the chosen season, traditional winter colours can be used for the decoration. For instance, the white colour can be perfectly combined with blue, red or silver and the red colour looks great with the golden one. Spectacular floral compositions can be made up of hippeastrums that bloom only in winter, hellebores which flowers look like little lanterns, as well as leaves and berries of hypericum. If you prefer more classical flowers, white roses are always in fashion. A traditional bride’s bouquet can be decorated with fir twigs, cones or seasonal berries. At last, to make the sensation of a real winter fairy-tale even stronger, newlyweds can rent a sleigh harnessed with horses instead of a usual car!
